Theo Red shoot first Stealth Music Video in Ireland
August 31st, 2009Theo Red continues to innovate with the release of a new music video for his 2nd single ‘Screw’. Theo has teamed up with Hi-Res Lighting and executive producers Mes Entertainments to become the first Irish artist to shoot a music video in Ireland using stealth video technology. The video captures the Theo and the band performing the new single against a huge backdrop of graphics and imagery created by visual designer Rachel Sullivan.
The stealth system was first developed by Element Labs for a Madonna tour and has been used subsequently by other innovative touring acts such as Muse and Nine Inch Nails. However this is the first time a domestic Irish act have employed the technology as a backdrop for a recorded music video. The high-resolution display screen spans a massive 100 feet wide and 25 feet high.
Hi-Res Lighting are the dynamic Irish company most recently employed by rockers ACDC to work with them on a forthcoming live DVD for their ‘Black Ice’ tour. Other recent projects include the spectacular Eurovision 2009, The Croke Park centenary light show, and The Irish Film and Television awards.
Hi Res boss Peter Canning said ‘it was great to be working with the band on the project. They are very dynamic in their approach and the performance and the song in question are a great showcase for the technology’
The video was also directed by Rachel Sullivan and produced by Mes Entertainments. A spokesperson for Mes described it as ‘a very ambitious project creatively and technically. Not just for Theo Red. But for everyone involved’.
Also, in conjunction with iDirect the band have also shot a feature length documentary including the making of the video and the background to Theo Red and the new album, ‘Get What You Came For’
The video will be released on all web platforms and scheduled for TV broadcast in early September. It will also be downloadable from iTunes . ‘Screw’ is the 2nd single from the album ‘Get What You Came For’ and is the official theme tune for Setanta Sports Formula 1 TV coverage. The album is on sale now from iTunes and www.theo.ie
Theo to soundtrack F1
March 15th, 2009We’re delighted to tell you that Global broadcaster Setanta Sports have chosen ‘Theo Red’s second single release ‘Screw’ as the official theme tune for their new look Formula 1 TV show this season. ’Setanta contacted us a couple of weeks ago,’ Theo said. ‘ They’ve revamped their Formula 1 show this year and wanted a new look and new sound. They got in touch and naturally we said yes. It’s the second major achievement by the artist in a matter of months, following the release of his excellent debut album, ‘Get What You Came For,’ last year. The first single, ‘This Is Not An Emergency’, won a Malibu Music Award last year in the best alternative song category, a fantastic feat for the Dublin native. ’It kind of feels like two out of two now, with the first one picking up the award and the second being picked up by Setanta,’ Theo continued. ’I couldn’t have asked for more. Im thrilled. We’re happy that it’s getting out there.’ The Formula 1 season gets underway this weekend, with the Melbourne Grand Prix first on the agenda.
